This 10-day journey across the Andaman Islands offers far more than the postcard-perfect beaches the region is known for. You’ll visit places most travellers never reach — remote islands, forest-covered peaks, quiet coastal villages, and unspoiled beaches where the only footprints might be your own. It’s a mix of easygoing adventure and raw natural beauty, perfect for those who want to go a little deeper. Expect early mornings, local ferry rides, basic yet welcoming accommodation outside the main hubs, and days full of rewarding discoveries.
Start in Port Blair, diving into history at the Cellular Jail before moving on to Havelock Island for sun-soaked days and optional diving or snorkelling. From there, head north to explore the lesser-known Long Island and trek to Lalaji Beach. Visit Kalipur’s quiet coast and climb Saddle Peak for sweeping views. Walk sandbars between islands and take in the peaceful rhythms of Mayabunder. The trip wraps up with more beach time back at Havelock and a final night in Port Blair. While the pace is adventurous, the memories — of turquoise waters, tangled jungle, and remote corners of India — will stay with you long after you return.
Arrive in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman Islands, where emerald hills roll into blue seas. After clearing immigration and collecting your permit, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Once settled, the journey begins with a visit to the Cellular Jail, a somber yet fascinating site that played a key role during India’s fight for independence. Its stark corridors and powerful sound-and-light show offer a glimpse into the island’s layered history. If time permits, continue on to the Anthropological Museum for insight into the unique tribal cultures of the archipelago. The rest of the day is free to wander the town, enjoy your first taste of Andaman seafood, or simply unwind by the water.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the jetty and board a high-speed ferry to Havelock Island. The ride itself is a scenic experience as you cruise across turquoise seas toward one of the Andamans’ most loved islands. On arrival, check in to your resort and settle into island life. The rest of the day is at leisure. You may want to explore the surroundings, walk barefoot along the beach, or enjoy optional activities like scuba diving or snorkelling. For those looking for total relaxation, there’s nothing wrong with finding a shady spot under a palm tree and doing absolutely nothing.

Enjoy a full day at your own pace. This could be your opportunity to experience the magic of Elephant Beach — a short jungle trek followed by an optional snorkelling session in crystal-clear waters. The beach is stunning, fringed by coral reefs and ideal for first-time snorkellers. Alternatively, you might opt for a diving experience with one of the island’s PADI-certified dive centres. If you’re feeling more laid-back, visit Radha Nagar Beach — often cited as the best beach in Asia — to watch the sun melt into the sea. Whether underwater or onshore, the day is yours to embrace the island’s natural charm.

Today you’ll head further off the beaten track to Long Island. Accessible only by boat, this remote island is surrounded by dense forests and quiet shores. On arrival, take a light trek through coastal jungle to Lalaji Beach, a true hidden gem where turquoise waves gently lap at untouched sands. With no crowds or commercial activity, it feels like stepping into another world. The walk itself passes through lush vegetation and occasional glimpses of local village life. The accommodation here is simple but full of rustic charm, perfect for those wanting a deeper connection with the natural surroundings.

After breakfast, depart for Kalipur Beach, located in the quiet northern reaches of the Andamans. This area is known for its peaceful coastline, black sand beaches, and rich marine life. You’ll travel by ferry and road, with the route itself offering scenic glimpses of island life. Once you arrive, the afternoon is free to explore the local area or simply relax on the beach. Kalipur is also one of the lesser-known nesting grounds for sea turtles (seasonal), and if the timing is right, you may be lucky enough to spot hatchlings making their way to sea.

Lace up your walking shoes this morning for a trek to Saddle Peak — the highest point in the Andaman Islands. The trail winds through dense tropical rainforest, with towering trees, creeping vines, and the constant background music of tropical birds. It’s not an overly technical hike, but the steady incline and humid air make it a decent challenge. Along the way, look out for Andaman wild pigs, butterflies, and rare orchids. The views from the summit are worth every step — an endless green canopy below, with glimpses of the coastline and sea beyond. Descend at a relaxed pace and enjoy a quiet evening back at your lodge.

Today’s adventure takes you to one of the region’s most picturesque spots — Ross and Smith Islands. These twin islands are joined by a natural sandbar, a surreal stretch of white sand that appears and disappears with the tide. Wade between the two islands, snorkel in the shallow turquoise water, or just take it all in from under the shade of a palm. Afterwards, continue to Mayabunder, a sleepy town with a lovely blend of tropical views and colonial remnants. Settle into your accommodation and perhaps explore the local market or catch the sea breeze from a jetty.

After breakfast, make your way back south to Havelock Island. The return trip gives you one more chance to enjoy the ferry rides and landscapes that make Andaman travel so unique. Arriving in Havelock by afternoon, the rest of the day is yours to unwind at your resort or revisit a favourite beach. It’s a perfect pause in the journey — familiar, scenic, and relaxed. If you’re up for something active, consider a sunset paddle or a casual walk through a local village.

The journey is a peaceful one, offering time to reflect on the past week’s adventures — the forests, remote beaches, winding trails, and quiet encounters with local life. Back in the city, you’ll have the option to visit any remaining sights or do a bit of shopping for crafts and souvenirs. It’s also a good time to share a final seafood meal or just watch the harbour lights flicker as ferries come and go.
